Algorithmic trading giant Wintermute is shifting its headquarters from London to New York, capitalizing on a more favorable regulatory climate for digital assets in the United States. The move, announced May 15, positions one of crypto’s largest market makers at the heart of Wall Street as Washington signals growing acceptance of the industry.
Founded by Evgeny Gaevoy in 2017, Wintermute cited evolving U.S. crypto policies as the primary driver for its transatlantic relocation. The firm has recruited Ron Hammond, formerly of the Blockchain Association, to lead its policy and advocacy efforts stateside. "Really excited to share that I will be moving to New York," Hammond tweeted, underscoring the strategic importance of the expansion.
